atsc ASSESSMENT

Assessment is a process that deems a person competent to perform the tasks of that position. When you are ready to be assessed, an Assessor will be appointed to see if you undertake the tasks of that role against a set of criteria. At the end of the assessment, you are either Competent or Not Yet Competent. The criteria are given below.

Assessment

Timekeepers can be assessed at Club. Other officials (except Referee) must be assessed at a MetSEA Meet.

Starters require 2 assessments at a MetSEA Meet.

A qualified Assessor will be appointed to do the assessing.

The assessment criteria is different for each position, as follows:

  • Timekeeper
  • Chief Timekeeper
  • Check Starter
  • Starter Level 1
  • Clerk of the Course
  • Inspector of Turns
  • Judge of Strokes
  • Chief Recorder
  • Finish Judge and Chief Finish Judge
  • AOE Operator
  • Meet Manager Operator
  • Announcer
  • Referee Level 1
  • Referee – Multi-Class
  • Advanced Self Management
  • Quality Control Assessment Policy (Referee, Starter & Technical Official)
  • Starter Level 2 Assessment
  • Starter Level 3 Protocol
  • Starter Level 3 Assessment
  • Pool Deck Protocols (for IOT, Chief IOT, JOS) (28 Mar 2023)

Assessment for Referee

Referee Courses are conducted by Swimming NSW. Following completion, a written examination is required before qualification as Level 1 (Club & Area Referee).

For progression to Level 2 (State Referee), another written examination is required.
